How to Use Muscle Testing For Supplements – Part 2/2
In this video Dr Jerry Lee (D.C., L.Ac.) shows how you can use muscle testing to determine which supplements will be best for your body. He also talks about why muscle testing works and how often a person should do it with a particular supplement.
You can see part 1 with Dr. Jerry explaining how muscle testing works.
In my blog here you can learn what supplement I takeon a daily basis and through out the year.
My favorite books on muscle testing and AK are these:
How to do Muscle testing with a partner
To learn how to do muscle testing on someone, stand facing your partner. Your partner raises their arm, straight out, directly in front of them or to the side at shoulder height. The arm should be straight. Don’t use arms/shoulders that are or has been injured in any way. The arm and shoulder used to test needs to be able to to resist a downward force.
The person doing the testing places one hand, or two fingers, above the wrist of the outstretched arm. The other hand of the tester can rest on the shoulder of the subject, or not. Before you push down on the arm make sure your partner is ready to resist. You need to give them time to tighten their arm to resist before you push down.
Say “resist” and push down on their arm with your hand or two fingers.Try this a couple of times before testing anything. This will help you get a feel for their relative arm strength.
Muscle testing it is not a competition. Do not overpower the person you are testing or push down when they are not ready. Since different people vary in arm strength, you will need to gauge the relative amount of force to use when pushing down each time you test someone new. You want to calibrate or judge the individual’s relative arm strength so you can easily tell the difference between a strong or weak response.
Also remember when pushing down, to only exert enough force to overcome the arm’s resistance. Stop pushing when you feel the arm buckle. Very little force will be needed when your partner tests “weak” on something.
Now you are ready to test different items. Select something you want to test and have your partner hold it one hand and raise the other for testing. Have them hold the item near their chest, if possible. If the item is too big or not available, they can focus on, seeing it in their their mind.
Once your partner is holding or focusing on the item, say “resist”, and push down on their arm. If the arm stays strong they have a “positive” response. If the arm goes “weak”, then it is a “negative” response.
Anyone can do muscle testing this way, it just might take some practice. Try testing a picture, an emotion, a place, a food, a color, a movie, a song or even a thought. A weak response to something means that the body is reacting negatively to the stimulus being tested. Rejection or non-acceptance of the stimulus is present.
There are also techniques for self-testing
Self Muscle Testing is possible for some, but I don’t notice 100% consistency with it, so I prefer a partner to have them ask me the questions I want, but here is the technique.
Self-testing can be done in various ways. One way is to touch the thumb to the middle finger of each hand to form two rings, linked through each other. Say something true — for example, “My name is [give your name].” At the same time, pull the linked fingers of the right hand against those of the left, but don’t allow them to separate.
Then say something false — for example, “My name is [give someone else’s name].” Do the same thing as before with the fingers, but this time deliberately separate them, as though they were flying apart or repelling each other. (You don’t need to make the true and false statements aloud — silently is okay, as long as you do it each time.)
The idea is to train the mind in different responses for truth and falsehood. If you practice this 10 or 15 minutes a day, you should be able to develop the response within a few weeks.
You can also check your responses by holding something detrimental while self-testing — sugar, for example — and seeing what response you get. Put the container in your pocket or hold it under your arm and test. Then hold something good for you — an herb you need or an organic vegetable — and test that. If you think your mind is influencing the results, you can have someone else put equal weights of both items in identical nonmetal containers.
An important element of muscle testing is your polarity. If it’s not correct (indicating that your energy is blocked), the results will be inaccurate. A discussion of polarity and its effect on muscle testing is beyond the scope of this article, but you can (and should) check your polarity by self-testing, once you learn it. Test while saying “My polarity is 100 percent” before testing anything else. The response to this statement will always be correct, even if your polarity is off. This is the only response you can be sure is correct under those circumstances.
Polarity can be corrected in a number of ways. One way is to hold a bottle of chlorophyll or spirulina while testing or take a few drops of chlorophyll in water. You may need to remove any metal you’re wearing. You can also be off if you’re hungry or thirsty. Drink a glass of water and/or eat something.
Your polarity should be correct most of the time. If it isn’t, you may want to consult someone who knows about muscle testing to find out what you can do about it.
Muscle testing will not provide accurate responses to certain statements: about the future, for example. You’ll get a response, but if you say, “This answer is reliable,” the response will be no. Muscle testing can be helpful for testing your responses to relationships and occupations, among other subjects. Keep in mind that statements are taken literally, so they have to be worded precisely.
Self test techniques:
1. Finger over finger: in this self muscle testing technique you place your middle finger over your index finger. You may switch the fingers if that is more comfortable for you. The finger on the top will be doing the pushing down and the finger on the bottom will be resisting the push.
Being able to bring the bottom finger down indicates a “weak” muscle signal correlates to a “no”. Resisting the push of the top finger indicates a “strong” muscle signal and indicates a “yes” (see below for more information on the “yes” and “no”).
This is similar to someone pushing down on your arm, except you get to do both the pushing and resisting.
I recommend you use something you already know makes your muscle go weak to practice with. Try putting pressure with and without that stimulus. Get a feel for the difference in the strength of your bottom finger when you introduce, and take away the item/stimulus you are practicing with.
2. Ring or “O” finger technique: in this self testing technique you touch the tips of the pinky and thumb of one hand making an “O” shape. Using the index finger of the other hand, insert it into the “O” and try to pull it apart where the pinky and thumb meet. At the same time, resist the pull with the pinky and thumb that are making the “O”.
If the index finger opens the “O”, that is a weak signal or a “no”. If the “O” stays closed, that is a strong signal or “yes”.
The disadvantage of this self muscle test is that you will not have a free hand in which to hold a stimulus.
There are certain times when I have found that muscle testing does not work. Those are:
As far as when muscle testing doesn’t work as well, these are the usual conditions that I have been taught:
- Dehydration of the testee
- When the testee is super stressed out and is not “polar”
- When the either the tester or the testee is biased towards what they are testing. They may still get a muscle testing answer, but it may not be as accurate because the practitioner is putting in their own biased on what and how the muscle should test, strong or weak, something called an automatism.
- If the patient is still processing information (maybe previously already been worked on by a practitioner) and the body just cannot take any more information or feedback.
- Muscle testing is sometimes not 100% accurate because the person may be on medications or supplements that may be giving the body false positives. There is a thing called “neurological disorganization” or also known as “switching” where the body may not give the actual accurate response due to these types of factors, so as practitioners, there are ways to get the levels of “switching” out of the body, and there are definitely many levels/layers of switching according to a few of my mentors.
Some other conditions that can negatively manipulate the results are:
- When in an overactive ego state or heightened state of emotions.
- Addiction
- When very hungry
- When very thirsty
- Under parasitic influence.
